Work training has been a drag these days even though it's only four hours of lecture. Other than the lecture, we had reports to do, meetings to attend, advanced reading to do, exams, and not to forget the neverending homework. I originally wanted to make a "report" about this last week, but alas my schedule was not letting me. Fortunately I finally had a day off haha! So anyway, here it goes.
Let me start with Nichido Beauty Cake. I don't normally appreciate this brand because the last time I used their foundation my skin broke like hell. The only product that I actually liked was their loose powder, but even that was quickly overwritten by The Face Shop and Body Shop... so I didn't really think I'd be buying their products anytime soon. However, when I saw this at the mall, I just had to buy it. Call it curiosity, but I have always been fond of testing stuff on my skin to see what brands work for me.
Here's the container.
The sales lady told me that it works as a base... a "primer" if you will. I'm actually already using The Face Shop's liquid makeup base in green, but I was curious as to how a "pressed powder"-like base will work.
Here's how it looks like inside. It's slightly green in color, which helps if you want to even out any red or dark areas of your face. Green base also helps a lot if you want to look whiter. Anyway, what else can I say about this...? Oh. You have to use a wet sponge to apply it. Not soaking wet though. The just right kind of wet. The sales lady said that a damp sponge will do. I say otherwise. Having your sponge too damp will not let you get any of the produce, and having your sponge too wet will make it "blotch" and "bubble"... if you get what I mean haha.
Pros:
- Very light on the skin. Unlike liquid bases (Face Shop for example) this is very light and feels like you did not put anything on.
Cons:
- Depending on how much coverage you want, this is quite hard to build up simply because it's hard enough to get product on your sponge.
- Hard to apply. Because the product is hard... quite literally haha.
Overall:
So-so. It's hard to give a final judgment for this one. It's something that I can use interchangeably with my liquid base. If I want something with lighter base coverage, then I'd choose this. I'd stick with my liquid base if I need a higher base coverage.
Next up: Nyx Circle Lipstick
I have always been fond of gyaru style makeups, and Nyx has always been one of my favorite brands. Unfortunately, shops that sell Nyx brands were not readily available to me and I'm still quite reluctant with online shopping, which was why I was ecstatic when I saw a store that sells Nyx brand open at a nearby mall. I've always been using pinks for my lip color whenever I go gyaru, and I use my lip concealer whenever I want to go nude with my lips. However, lip concealer isn't really lipstick... so... yeah.
Anyway, seeing that store sell Nyx brands made me go gaga, and so I finally bought my first nude lipstick.
...that made me sound like a noob haha.
So anyway, there. There were actually more nude colors, but my budget could only afford one. There was one more color that I liked... It was Indian-something, but in the end, I decided to go with Circe.
Tada~
As you can see it has a smooth natural flesh color. My lips are easily dried, so I was worried that this will dry up my lips... but then it looked so smooth that I ended up more excited to use it. Haha.
The point of nude lipsticks is to make you lips blend with your skin tone right (correct me if I'm wrong), so here. I actually laughed at this picture because I almost can't see my lipstick anymore. It's camouflaged to my skin hahaha~
Pros:
- really smooth and easy to apply. It literally glides on your lips.
- moisturizing (for me at least). My lips doesn't feel all that dry unlike the other lipstick brands I tried before.
- affordable. 300php. I know that it's cheaper at some other places though haha~
Cons:
- It doesn't really last long... and it's easily removed. I had to use lip gloss to give it a "final protective layer"
- Some reviews I saw stated that it was kinda greasy. Well... it does have a greasy feel to it, but it's tolerable, really.
Overall:
- I finally found my favorite brand. Must I say more? xD
Below are a few photos of how it looks like when applied. Though of course it may differ from person to person.
I like how it's not completely nude and gives a hint of orangey flesh color. At least it doesn't make me look sick or anything~
Stuff applied:
Nichido Beauty Cake in green
Etude House Dream On Foundation (in no. 1 I think)
The Face Shop Span (or was it Spain) clear matte compact powder in NB21
In2it Jet Black liquid eyeliner
Nichido night out white eyeliner
Ever bilena cheek blush in Raisin
Colorless lip gloss
Nyx nude lipstick in Circe
...over and out~
how much is the nyx lipstick and what are the other shades?
